Wander Franco need wander no longer:
The Tampa Bay Rays and the 20-year-old shortstop agreed to an 11-year deal worth $182 million, with an option for a 12th year for a total of $223 million, according to USA TODAY Sports’ Bob Nightengale.
Previously, the largest contract in Rays history was the six-year, $100 million extension to Evan Longoria in 2012. It’s also the largest deal for a player with less than one full year of service time. Ronald Acuna Jr. signed an eight-year, $100 million deal with the Braves in 2019.

Franco posted a 2.5 fWAR and a 3.5 fWAR in 70 games. If he averages three WAR a year for the eleven seasons that would be worth at least $330 million. It’s possible he might average five or six WAR in that time frame. It’s a great deal for both sides, as Franco is set for life and the Rays locked up a budding star.
