The White Sox prepare to part ways with pitcher Dallas Keuchel:

Keuchel, 34, had a 7.88 ERA this season after compiling a 5.28 mark last year. After signing a three-year, $55.5 million deal with the White Sox before the 2020 season, he finished fifth in Cy Young voting with a 1.99 ERA.

It’s come to the point where the White Sox will pay Keuchel not to pitch for them.

In 2020, Keuchel threw an effective cut fastball. That pitch lost its value in 2021 and this season. Keuchel tried to substitute the sinker to no avail, and now his career is sinking.

That said, Keuchel put together some very good seasons. In the five years from 2014 to 2018, he averaged better than three WAR a season, topping out at 5.7 fWAR in 2015. He was a big reason for the resurgence of the Astros.
