The Rays and Cubs finish up their low-scoring series with Zach Eflin facing Justin Steele. Eflin so far exceeds expectation with a 7-1 record and a 3.17 ERA. He’s walked just seven batters in 54 innings, lowering the impact of the eight home runs he allowed. Steele lowered his walk and home run rates this year, pulling his ERA down by 0.4 runs.

The Pirates send Mitch Keller against the Giants and Alex Wood. Keller improved his K rate greatly this season, mowing down 85 batters in 68 2/3 innings. Wood walked a ton of batters so far this season, 13 in 25 2/3 innings, but a .190 BA allowed with runners in scoring position helped him to a 3.51 ERA.
