Games of the Day

The Rangers send Dane Dunning against the Guardians and Tanner Bibee as the Guardians try to stay alive in the AL Central. Dunning goes for his eleventh win of the season, which would match his total coming into 2023. He’s a low strikeout pitcher who managed to limit hits this season. Bibee also goes for his eleventh win in an impressive rookie season. He allowed 13 home runs in 136 2/3 innings, helping him to a 3.03 ERA.

The Rays and Orioles play game three of their four game weekend set, the Rays winning the first two. They are the same number of games over .500, but the Orioles lead by one in the loss column. The Rays need to win the next two games to own the tie-breaker between the clubs. Tyler Glasnow takes on Grayson Rodriguez. Glasnow was roughed up in his two starts against the Orioles, allowing 12 hits in 11 1/3 innings despite 16 K. His ERA in those innings stands at 6.35. Rodriguez pitched well since the All-Star break with a 2.95 ERA in 58 innings. He only allowed three home runs in the second half compared to 13 HR in 45 1/3 before the break.

Houston send J.P. France against the Royals and Cole Ragans. France pitched great on the road this season, 6-2 with a 2.60 ERA compared to a 4.59 ERA at home. His walk and strikeout rates are about the same, but his home run rate drops away. Ragans owns a 1.69 ERA since joining the Royals, with 69 K and just one home run allowed in 53 1/3 innings.
