Best Batter Today

Juan Soto of the Yankees posted a game score of 90 on Saturday, the highest of day and the seventh 90+ score of the season. His four for four with a walk and two home runs moves him within two points of his teammate, Aaron Judge, who remains in first place in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Judge went one for four with a walk in the 6-1 win over the White Sox.

Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers went 0 for 4 as he batted lead off as his teammate, Mookie Betts, got a day off. Ohtani ranks third, Betts fifth.

William Contreras of the Brewers hit a three-run home in four trips to the plate to help beat the Astros 4-2. He remains in fourth place. He is first in BA, second in OBP, and fourth in slugging percentage in the NL. Combine that with a primary position of catcher, and Contreras is looking like a very good MVP candidate.
