Dylan Cease of the Padres put an end to hitting in Washington as he twirled the second no-hitter in Padres history and the first of his career.

Cease dazzled for nine innings, turning in the second no-hitter in franchise history in a 3-0 victory over the Nationals. The right-hander, forced to wait through a 76-minute delay before he took the mound, struck out nine and walked three.

Cease came into the game having allowed one hit in each of his last two starts, over a total of 13 innings. He walked four and struck out 21. He’s looking good for July pitcher of the month.

July is actually the worst month of the season for complete game no-hitters with just 0.040% of games resulting in that outcome. August is second at 0.046%.
