Players A to Z, Ryan Garko

Ryan Garko played first base for the Cleveland Indians and San Francisco Giants in 2009. He signed as a free agent with the Seattle Mariners. Garko does a decent job of getting on base, but his power numbers are low for a first baseman. For a light-hitting first baseman, he doesn’t even contribute much with the glove.

Garko does hit lefties well. That’s means he’s best used as the right-handed bat in a first base platoon. He shouldn’t be playing every day.

I like that he gets on base ok and that he hits lefties ok, but I’m really just not a fan of a light-hitting first baseman with a mediocre glove. It’s possible, even likely, that Zduriencik knows something I don’t, but so far I’m meh on Garko.
