Fast Ford

Henry Schulman appears excited about Giants minor league player Darren Ford, who set up the game winning run on Monday with a triple. Ford had a decent minor league OBP, but little power. I find it odd he never rose above single A ball, even after a trade to the Giants. He did well as an old A ball player in 2009, and given his seasonal age, 24, he could be blossoming. My guess, however, is that it’s a combination of the high altitude in Phoenix and a small sample size.

Phoenix has the same altitude as Pittsburgh. It is definitely a great place to hit, but it’s not because of the altitude.
