Difficult Lee

Cliff Lee tosses a two-hitter for his third consecutive shutout, extending his scoreless inning streak to 33 innings. That puts him more than halfway to Orel Hershiser‘s record. He walked two Boston batters, but with the Phillies turning two double play behind him he only faced two batters over the minimum as the Phillies won 5-0. Cliff finished June with just one earned run allowed in the month, good for a 0.21 ERA. Justin Verlander and Cliff are having two of the great Junes of all time.

Boston’s lead in the wild card race drops to one with the win by Tampa Bay.
