Ortiz Plays First, Red Sox Still Can’t Hit

The Red Sox move Adrian Gonzalez to rightfield and placed David Ortiz at first, but the two combined for a 1 for 8 night as the Phillies won a squeaker 2-1. Boston managed five hits and two walks, while Raul Ibanez delivered a solo home run in the seventh to break the tie and give the Phillies the victory. Vance Worley allowed one run in seven innings to lower his ERA to 2.57 for the win.

Since scoring at least 10 runs in three of four games in mid-June, Boston scored 15 runs in the last seven games. The are 1-6 in that stretch, as it looks like the first week of the season for them again.
