Bottom of the Ninth

Jose Valverde comes on for the save in the bottom of the ninth with the Tigers leading the Yankees 3-2. He’ll face Curtis Granderson, Robinson Cano, and Alex Rodriguez.

Update: Will someone be Chris Chambliss?

Update: Granderson gets ahead 2-1. Valverde works the count full, and Granderson flies out to leftfield. One down.

Update: Cano breaks his bat but still hits a hard line drive to centerfield, but it stays up for Austin Jackson. Two down.

Update: A-Rod takes the first two pitches for strikes. He swings and misses at a 1-2 pitch, and the Tigers win 3-2 in the game, and 3-2 for the series!

A great game, and a great win by Detroit. We’ll have two team in the ALCS that have not won a World Series in a very long time. The Tigers last won in 1984, and the Rangers have never taken home the trophy.
