Eddie Vedder switched from the Red Sox the Twins:
“I used to follow the Red Sox in the American League,” Vedder told MLB.com. “But now Theo is with the Cubs—so I like the Twins.”
Everything I know about Eddie Vedder comes from this song:
Why isn’t he a Mariners fan?
Eddie Vedder isn’t the only fan the Red Sox have lost. Bob Wood, the author of Dodger Dogs to Fenway Franks, told me recently in an email that he’s been a long time (since high school) Red Sox fan, but can’t root for them anymore. He really didn’t like the whole beer and fried chicken in the clubhouse story and I’m sure nothing this year has changed his mind.
That’s a very conflicting statement.
Theo leaves the Sox. Goes to the Cubs. So Vedder starts rooting for the Twins? What?
Not to be too much the cranky New Englander, but you know what? Good riddance. Fair-weather front-runners weren’t real Red Sox fans in the first place.
Ryan D >> yeah, there’s a break in logic there. And every team is going to have some players fans don’t like. I hated Carl Pavano, but that didn’t stop me from rooting for the Yankees.
Ryan D. » I think he wants to root for an AL Team.
He’s always been a sellout.
Great “Weird Al” post. I missed him last Saturday at the county fair. Eddie Vedder is a wanker. Who cares what team he follows. I can’t even watch Red Sox games. Bobby Valentine should put on the fake glasses and moustache again and just leave it!
It sounds like he’s a Cubs fan first. This is just his “other league” team.
Why not Mariners? He’s more or less from San Diego and only came to Seattle to Make It Big. Although that did require him to wear an M’s cap on Saturday Night Live, it did not require him to become a fan. Sox fans should be happy to see him Go.
