Myers Extended

The Houston Astros extended the contract of Brett Myers through 2012 with an option for 2013:

The guaranteed value of the two-year deal, including a buyout on the third season, is $21 million. If Myers stays through 2013 it will guarantee the right-hander $28 million and it contains performance bonuses that could up the value to $29.5 million.

I guess Ed Wade holds no hard feelings for the Boston incident when Myers was with the Phillies. Witnesses saw Myers hit his wife and called the police. The contract is a good one. If Myers keeps pitching like this, he’s worth more than $11 million a year. That number is more in line with his best years in Philadelphia.
