The Blue Jays send recently acquired Mike Napoli to the Texas Rangers for reliever Frank Francisco:
Napoli seemed like an odd fit in Toronto because the Blue Jays have catching prospect J.P. Arencibia ready to take over behind the plate this season, but the presence of free agent signing Yorvit Torrealba in Texas likely means Napoli won’t be a regular catcher for the Rangers either.
Yorvit will be there for defense, Napoli for his bat, provided his offense comes back. Francisco gives the Jays another pitcher to compete for the closer role, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the high K Frank take the crown.
Angels fans get the added pleasure of seeing Mike more often. 🙂
