Smoakin’ the Yankees

Justin Smoak lit up the Yankees with two home runs Sunday afternoon, the second a grand slam that proved to be the game winner. Dave Robertson got himself into trouble in the eighth inning, giving up two hits with one out that put runners on second and third. He then induced a ground out by Devon Travis, with the runners holding. The Yankees then intentionally walked Josh Donaldson to get to Smoak.

Smoak has never been a Yankees nemesis, batting .209/.285/.350 career against the team, .193/.258/.349 against the Yankees as a Blue Jays player. Smoak did up his power last year, so maybe the Yankees should have been a bit more concerned about facing him.

The Blue Jays win 7-4.
