The Red Sox beat the Blue Jays 8-3 Monday afternoon, J.D. Martinez hitting his 17th home run of the season along the way. Martinez did not make his 2017 debut until May 12th of that year. Since coming off the disabled list last season, Martinez has now hit 62 home runs in 170 games. That leads the majors. Giancarlo Stanton is second at 59, but also played 176 games (he yet play in the Yankees Monday afternoon game, although he did not start). It’s an impressive year+ of play for Martinez.

Update: Trout breaks the 2018 tie with his 18th home run. The Tigers, however, beat the Angels 9-3.
