Light Show

There was a delay at Fenway Park Wednesday night due to cell phone lights:

Wednesday’s Tigers-Red Sox game was briefly delayed in the top of the seventh inning by a sea of cell phone lights emanating from the Fenway crowd. Before Nicholas Castellanos stepped to the plate with two outs in the seventh, he chatted with plate umpire Mike DiMuro. Tigers skipper Ron Gardenhire also came out to talk with DiMuro, who walked over to Boston’s dugout.

My daughter was at the game and told me that the Red Sox started playing When the Lights Go Down in the City to send a message to the fans. Of course, that song just calls for fan lights, so people swung to the music with even more cell phone light on. Maybe Darkness of the Edge of Town would have been more appropriate.

The Red Sox beat the Tigers 7-1.
