    • We all know what a night out at the ballpark costs. While it may be "priceless", it's anything but that when the credit card bill arrives. A cash advance can help.

    Team Offense, Cincinnati Reds

The series on team offense continues with the Cincinnati Reds. I plug the probable lineup from CBSSportsLine into the Lineup Analysis Tool, and fill in the numbers with Marcel the Monkey projections. For pitchers, I used the Reds numbers from 2008. The results:

    • Best lineup: 4.47 runs per game
    • Probable lineup: 4.20 runs per game
    • Worst lineup: 3.86 runs per game
    • Regressed lineup: 4.16 runs per game

The Reds scored 4.35 runs per game in 2008.

Amazing. Dusty Baker manages to assemble lineup in close to the worst possible way. He puts two hitters who don’t do a good job of getting on base in front of his big bat, Joey Votto. I suspect that when the year is over Votto’s RBI total will be strikingly low for his averages. At least they have speed at the top of the order. :-)

I would put Bruce ahead of Votto and Encarnacion fourth. The pitching is going to need to be really good for this team to win.
