Chad Gaudin, with the bases loaded and two out in the top of the second inning, walks the Rockies pitcher Aaron Cook to force in the tying run. I thought Bud Black was going to kill himself in the dugout. That’s all the Rockies get as they are tied with the Padres at one.
Update: That’s the eighth time this season a pitcher walked with the bases loaded. It happened ten times in 2008. I have situational stats back to 1974, and the most in a season in that time frame is 13 times. That happened twice, in 2005 and 1975. Given there were only 12 NL teams in 1975, that’s quite impressive.

Who were the teams that drew those walks? I’m guessing the Reds drew more of them than anybody else in ‘75. Maybe the Reds are the reason the number was so high. They had an amazing offense that year.
