Garza Goes After Teixeira

Matt Garza admits he threw at Mark Teixeira:

Tampa Bay Rays RHP Matt Garza acknowledged it was more than coincidence than he hit Mark Teixeira the inning after Yankees starter Joba Chamberlain threw a pitch at the head of Evan Longoria, and noted the Yankees threw inside to Longoria and hit him Monday too.

I always wonder about the wisdom of admitting something like this. Throwing inside is part of the game. To a certain extent, retaliation is part of the game. A pitcher shouldn’t admit that, however. Yes, it’s honest, but it also opens him up to fines and ejections should he hit someone else. Now whenever he comes inside, a batter is going to think Garza is coming after them.

I say good for Garza. Chambermaid needs to learn that his teammates are the ones who have to pay for his antics. Hit Jeter, Posada, A-Rod and Texiera until their club house cleans him up.
