Joe Mauer went 3 for 4 Sunday afternoon to raise his batting average to .366. He hit his 27th home run of the season, more than doubling his previous season high, scoring two runs and driving in two in the Twins 8-0 win over the Athletics. Joe can reach .400 with 25 straight hits, or going 44/71 the rest of the season, a.620 average. The odds of that happening are about one in 6.5 million. He made a good run at .400, but a .366 average with a great OBP and power makes this a fantastic season.
Brian Duensing pitched seven shutout innings to lower his ERA to 3.53.
