    • We all know what a night out at the ballpark costs. While it may be "priceless", it's anything but that when the credit card bill arrives. A cash advance can help.

    High Money Winner

Here’s an interesting note on Alex Rodriguez:

Nobody’s really mentioned this, but Alex Rodriguez made history when the Yankees won the World Series. It was the first time in 23 years that the highest-paid player in baseball won a World Series ring.

The 1986 Mets released George Foster in August when he had the game’s fattest salary — $2.8 million. But the second-highest salary belonged to their catcher, Gary Carter.

The Yankees also bucked tradition a bit by winning with an old shortstop.

This is more a function of A-Rod having never won a ring than anything.

I think the “Noone has won with a SS as old a Jeter” story is silly. Correct because there have been very few 35 year old SS as good as Jeter, and because there have been very few if any teams that surrounded their 35 yo shortstop with CC Sabathia, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, Mariano Rivera, Johnny Damon, etc.

I know you aren’t implying that it’s some wonderous thing. Just needed to drop my two cents.
