Matt Cain turned in the highest game score of 2010 Friday night. He pitched a shutout, allowing just one hit while walking none and striking out nine for a score of 94. That’s one better than Dallas Braden‘s perfect game.
The Giants and Cain won the game 5-0. Despite a 2.50 ERA, Cain is now just 3-4 on the season. Two of his wins game in games he allowed no runs. He allowed just one unearned run in his previous start, but lost. Cain will need a lot more shutouts to have a decent won-lost record at this point.

I watched the MLB Network last night as the game was finishing and what I loved was that they didn’t blame Cain for his poor W-L record. They simply said “They need to find a way to score more runs for this guy”
