Posey in the House

MLB Fanhouse reports that the Giants called up Buster Posey today:

The offensively challenged Giants have called up catching prospect Buster Posey, a major-league source confirmed to FanHouse on Saturday morning.

With Bengie Molina the regular starter behind the plate, the Giants are expected to play Posey at first base at least occasionally to get his bat in the lineup. Aubrey Huff, who has played first all year for the Giants, did make one start in left field Tuesday.

Note that this is a move to improve left field. The Giants infield offense, catcher around to third, is pretty good. It’s also a move to improve the team’s power, if Buster actually hits for power in the majors. It’s a move long overdue.
