The Evil Player program selected Ben Sheets as Wednesday’s evil player. The oft injured pitcher used his evil powers to convince Oakland to sign him to a $10 million contract. So far, the Athletics received a 5.01 ERA for their money, although Sheets has made 16 starts. He pitches well in the big park in Oakland, but away he’s allowed 10 of his 14 home runs and posts a 6.95 ERA. Maybe the A’s should try to limit his road starts in the second half.
