Dueling Youngsters

Chase Headley and Matt Kemp are suffering through disappointing seasons. Both got their heads in the game Monday night as each missed the cycle by a triple. Kemp came under criticism from Larry Bowa and responded with a five for five night, homering, doubling and driving in three runs. Headley banged out four hits, two doubles and a homer. He scored and drove in three. Chase received a lot more support from his teammates than Kemp, however, as the Padres went on to a 10-5 win. New additions Miguel Tejada and Ryan Ludwick each went 2 for 5 with a run scored.

The win pushes the Dodgers nine games back. They’re very close to being out of this race.
