The Sox will win as John Danks and the White Sox visit Clay Buchholz and the Red Sox. There is also the possibility that hurricane Earl washes out the game. Danks is a reverse platoon left-hander this season, allowing a .202/.268/.317 slash line against right-handed batters, but a .295/.353/.400 slash line against lefties. Keep that in mind for your 2010 Strat-o-Matic draft. Buchholz leads the American League in ERA, and has only allowed one home run in 70 2/3 innings at Fenway Park this season.
The Rangers and Twins open a series in Minnesota with Derek Holland opposing a pitcher to be called up from AAA. Minnesota used Nick Blackburn in relief during their 13 inning marathon, so the team is scrambling for a starter. Texas trails the Twins by 1 1/2 games for home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Holland pitched poorly in his start against the Twins, giving up three hits, three walks and three runs in one inning of work. The Twins lead the season series 4-3.
The last time the Reds and Cardinals met, St. Louis swept three games in Cincinnati. Since then, the Reds have gone 18-4 to open up an eight game lead on the Cardinals and pretty much win the division. St. Louis needs another sweep to have a chance at a division title, and to stay in the wild card race. Bronson Arroyo takes on Jaime Garcia in game one. Arroyo has been wild against the Cardinals this season, walking 14 batters in 26 1/3 innings of work. It’s such a good year for pitcher, Garcia’s 2.33 ERA does not put him in the top five in the National League! He’s 3-0 against the Reds despite a 4.08 ERA, and has allowed them just one home run in 17 2/3 innings.
Enjoy!
