Fausto’s Deal

Roberto Hernandez, aka Fausto Carmona, reached a deal to drop the false identity charges against him:

Dominican Republic prosecutors say Cleveland Indians pitcher Roberto Hernandez has agreed to a deal to have false identity charges against him dropped in return for completing a work program in his Caribbean homeland.

It’s still not clear if he’ll pitch for the Indians this season.

Ok, one hurdle cleared. He still has to get a visa (will the State Department issue one to a known false identity crook), then get cleared to play by Bud Selig, and lastly there’s the Cleveland contract. If you’re past your prime, I’m not sure if I want to pay you what I would be willing to pay if you were in your prime.

No way he should be allowed to get a visa. We have to put up with the hassle at TSA checkpoints for security due to actions by a few who used false identities to enter the country and they issue a visa to a guy known to have obtained one using a false identity? No way, at least not in an election year.
