The Rockies took their bats to Tim Lincecum on Wednesday, the day the former Cy Young award winner cut his hair. Maybe Tim is not up on the Old Testament. Of the 17 batters he faced last night, Lincecum gave up eight hits and two walks. That led to six runs as the Rockies went on to a 17-8 win over the Giants. Tim’s ERA of 12.91 is higher than the sum of his ERAs from the four previous seasons!
Tim is getting more ground balls this season, which I thought would be a good thing. But if you look at his vertical movement here, his fastball appears to be flatter. It quite possible those balls on the ground are being hit hard through the infield.
