Unhappy Manager

Ron Gardenhire ripped his team after they failed to get a hit in a 9-0 loss to Jered Weaver and the Angels:

“We got dominated by a very good pitcher over there, but we played terrible. We didn’t pitch worth a crap. Not aggressive. Missed a play or two, and got no-hit by a very good pitcher over there. Which doesn’t make it any easier for our baseball team.”

Gardenhire said the Twins “looked like Little Leaguers out there, and that’s a bunch of (expletive).” Then he walked out of the visiting managers’ office. “OK, that’s enough. I’m not going to go any farther. Have a good night. Congratulations, Mr. Weaver.”

Do you get the feeling that Ron is on the hot seat. Ron is describing a team that is not motivated. Whose job is it to motivate them? Maybe this speech will work, but I wonder how long this type of play will be allowed to continue before the Twins bring in someone new.

Almost every manager has an expiration date. Maybe Gardenhire reached his.

No manager can help that team much. They’ve got to bring in the fences at their park to restore Mauer and Morneau to some semblance of productivity, and they have to spend some money for pitching.
