Scott Diamond‘s call up came at just the right time as he helped the Twins to a rare win, 5-0 over the Angels Tuesday night. In his seven starts last season, Diamond showed neither power nor control, recording 19 strikeouts and 17 walks in 39 innings. Against the Angels he walked one and struck out six, much more in line with his minor league numbers.
Walks remain a strength for the Twins staff, second in the AL at 2.7 per nine IP. Their strikeouts and home run rates lag, however. Diamond should help both of those.
