For the third game in a row, the Mets took the Phillies bullpen to the woodshed. Cliff Lee came out of the game after six innings, Philadelphia leading 4-2. The Mets score eight runs over the last three innings, all against Philadelphia relievers, to win 10-6. In the three game series, the Mets scored 14 runs in 7 1/3 innings against the Phillies pen, one of the relievers taking the loss in each game.
Fans were worried about the Phillies offense coming into the season, but the relief corps has allowed 54 runs in 75 2/3 innings this year. The starters have given up 77 runs in 211 innings. It’s a good thing the starters stay in the game a long time.
