Uggla Play

Dan Uggla may have made the worst play I have seen. He bobbles a grounder from David Freese, but keeps the ball in front of him. He has time to throw out the runner, but throws the ball to the batting circle, the batter winding up on second. Adron Chambers is now on third after pinch running and advancing on a bunt. The Cardinals lead the Braves 4-2 in the top of the seventh inning.

Update: I guess this is the curse of Brooks Conrad.

Update: The Braves make another error, this time by the shortstop Andrelton Simmons. With the infield in, he bobbles a grounder. Instead of getting the out at first, he throws wild home. The runs scores, and the batter, Pete Kozma, winds up at second base.

Update: Kozma scores from second on a slow roller toward first. The pitcher, Venters, fielded the ball, but no one was covering first, and Matt Carpenter beat it out. Kozma was running hard all the way, and Venters momentum carried him away from the plate after he missed the tag on the batter. The Cardinals now lead 6-2 as the Braves defense betrays them once again.

Update: The Braves turn a double play to end the inning, but the damage is done.
