Bo Know Motivation

I’m really liking Bo Porter as a manager. His benching of J.D. Martinez the other night seems to have lit a fire under his offense, as they scored 24 runs in the last two days. They now have a better record than the Angels.

Porter picked his spot well to discipline a player. He both chose the right moment (pop out on the first pitch) and the right player (as Martinez reacted correctly to the discipline). Bo didn’t keep Martinez in the dog house as he was back in the lineup the the next day, but the rest of the team got the message as well. He was a very nice hire by the Astros.

Bobby LaFromboise made a very nice debut for the Mariners, by the way, pitching a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts. He’s been in the minors a long time despite good control and a high K rate.
