Kevin Youkilis needs back surgery and will miss 10 to 12 weeks recovering. With Mark Teixeira on the disabled list again, the Yankees injury woes continue.
On the other hand, if Alex Rodriguez comes back healthy and leads the Yankees to the playoffs, maybe he’ll become a real Yankee. 🙂
The question now is do the Yankees go out and trade for a bat at the deadline. Perhaps Phil Hughes as bait if Pineda is ready. \
This will probably be the last year they have a chance for the playoffs for awhile given the age and decline of Jeter, Tex, Arod, Ichiro, Wells and CC and the fact the Cano, Granderson, Rivera, Hughes, Kuroda and Pettitte all may be gone, and with not a heck of a lot of talent at the high levels of the minor league system, and a mandate to keep salaries below the tax threshold.
