Miguel Cabrera hits a solo home run in the first inning of the game between the Tigers and Indians to put Detroit out to an early 1-0 lead. The broadcast showed a great super-slow motion replay of Cabrera making contact. I’m not sure it’s the angle of the camera, but Cabrera does not seem to have his eye on the ball, but his eye on where he expects the ball to meet the bat. You see the wiggle of the bat as it bounces off the ball. Miguel follows through, and keeps his eye on that one spot, rather than following the flight of the ball off the bat. Just great concentration. That’s his ninth home run in his last 15 games.
Update: Doug Fister walks two in the bottom of the first and gets burned by a two-out Michael Brantley double. This is only the fourth time this season Fister walked two in a game! Carlos Santana follows with a home run, and the Indians take a 4-1 lead over the Tigers.
David, how is Miggy doing vis-a-vis his run on the single-season RBI record? Do you have a link to your spreadsheet for that?
Jack » I won’t update until late tonight, but he’s still a long shot.

The two today should help.
Thanks, David. Love that spreadsheet!
