Derek Jeter starts the game by making a great diving stop of an Andrew McCutchen grounder. Andrew is called safe, but the replay shows it was very close. I didn’t expect Jeter to make his mark on this game with a great defensive play. 🙂
Update: McCutchen gets to third on his own, but is stranded there as Felix Hernandez strikes out two in the inning. Now Jeter gets to make a statement with his bat.
Update: It’s a nice moment as Jeter gets a standing ovation from the crowd and the players on the field.
Update: Jeter comes through in a big moment, as he usually does, lining a double down the rightfield line to open the bottom of the first.
Update: Mike Trout goes the other way with power, also, scraping the wall in right for a triple. It wasn’t even close at third. The AL leads 1-0.
Update: Miguel homers with one out to give the AL a 3-0 lead. They are a single away from the cycle in the inning.
Update: The AL doesn’t get the single, but they take a nice 3-0 lead into the second.
