Injury Update

Scott Kazmir left the Oakland game Wednesday night with a tight triceps muscle:

Kazmir, 31, said he thought his problem might’ve been caused by dehydration on a muggy evening.

“That’s kind of what it felt like — just a little bit of tightness, maybe like cramping or something like that,” Kazmir said. “It definitely felt very minor, and I wanted to go back out there and still pitch.”

Given his injury history, it was better to be safe, although the Yankees did well against the Oakland pen.

Alex Gordon strained his groin:

The severity of the strain and how long Gordon might be out were not known, but manager Ned Yost said he feared the injury could sideline him for months.

Gordon was scheduled for an MRI on Wednesday night.

Gordon is one of the Royals best players, so this will be a major blow to the team. Over the previous four season he posted a 22.4 fWAR, and was on his way to another 5-6 WAR this season. With Detroit and KC both having a top position player out of action, the division might be ripe for the Twins to win.
