The C.J. Setup

Halos Heaven wonders if the front office of the Angels planted the story about C.J. Wilson‘s teammates being upset that Wilson elected surgery.

Of course, you’d have to get word out there that there is a looming cloud over the situation, between the players, and one way to do that is the press. Alden Gonzalez reported the “frustration” from the players, but in the L.A. Times piece, there is NO frustration(outside of their losing streak and dropping in the standings) and any and all rumors are unattributed and unfounded. Is Arte Moreno using MLB.com and Alden Gonzalez to carry his water in turning players and fans against C.J. Wilson? Is Gonalez’s source(s) on this alleged frustration coming from actual, living baseball players, or is it coming from someone in the Angels organization whose sole purpose is to get a jab in at a player that’s been a bit of a gadfly in the past? It seems quite laughable to think that a beat writer is putting this misinformation out there, knowingly or unknowingly, but considering what we’ve been through this year alone with the Angels, i’ve come to believe that there is nothing too outlandish, childish or petty for the front office guys, and Arte Moreno.

Moreno seems to be steadily giving away his moral capital, so that fans now look at him as a possible villain when something goes wrong.

Arte is sounding worse than Steinbrenner. At least The Boss gave chances to substance abusers such as Steve Howe, Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry.
