The Cubs beat the Diamondbacks 5-3 Saturday afternoon to improve their record to 39-15. The fifty four games played represents one third of the season for Chicago. They very well may have made the playoffs with this hot start. If they played .500 the rest of the season, they win 93. That’s usually enough to enter the post-season tournament. They are also well on their way to an historic season.
Cool!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to compare them historically, and notice that their 39-15 start is better than the 1906 Cubs (37-17), 1954 Indians (37-17), & 1986 Mets (38-16) were after 54 games.
