Luis » Oh yes. Contracts are guaranteed. That’s why they wanted to DFA him, so they could work a trade. Now, a team can just sign him for the minimum.
I wondered since he apparently “asked” for his release, if that would affect the contractual status. Thanks
Luis » The union is very careful about these things. If they let that happen, then players might be coerced into asking for a release. The Nationals were just being nice, believe it or not.
Seems surprising. Papelbon should/would be a decent set up man…but I guess the Nats know him beter than I.. Thanks for the info..
