Weekly Look at Offense

The weekend after the All-Star Game usually shows a drop in offense, as the best pitchers for teams get the nod. Week 15 produced 8.89 runs per game, the worst week since week three of the season. The previous two seasons, however, week 15 came in at about 7.3 runs per game, so offense didn’t slow down that much.

Year over year through week 15, 2017 leads 2016 9.32 runs per game to 8.95 runs per game. The trends continue, with home runs, walks, and strikeouts up, other hits down. In four fewer games than last season, the majors produced 299 more home runs.
