A First for 2018

Who had Jose Berrios in the pool for first pitcher shutout of the season? He throws a three-hitter against the Orioles, who scored in just one inning of the last 18 they played. Berrios walked one and struck out six, and used just 107 pitches to go the distance. Reading through the play-by-play, it looked like the Orioles were getting under the ball too much, as there are a number of balls in play described as pop outs. Berrios does own a rather high fly ball rate, and if he’s figured out how to keep his fastball from sinking too much, he might be in for a Matt Cain in his prime type of season.

The Twins beat the Orioles 7-0.
