Giancarlo Stanton went 0 for 5 with five strikeouts in the Yankees home opener, but the player batting behind him, Didi Gregorius made up for Stanton’s poor performance. Gregorius went four for four with a walk, a single, a double, and two home runs, driving in eight runs as the Yankees beat the Rays 11-4. Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge set the table, combing to score five runs.
Note that the Yankees are so deep, their fourth best slugger can clean up and play shortstop.
