The 44 year old Bartolo Colon just finished six perfect innings. He threw first-pitch strikes to the first 17 batters. He struck out seven, mostly by throwing his fastballs at extremely different speeds with various movements.
The Rangers lead the Astros 1-0, as Justin Verlander gave up a solo home run, just inside the leftfield foul pole and just over the wall. That’s the only hit in the game.
Update: Two ground outs and a fly out gives Colon a perfect game through seven innings. He’s thrown just 83 pitches. By the way, this is the way to speed up a game, throw lots of strikes!
Update: So if Colon stays perfect, then Kate Upton has to let him in the perfect-game club, but keep her husband Justin Verlander out!

Update: Verlander hits a batter in the eighth, but he still has allowed just one hit and a walk. This might wind up as one of the greatest pitched games of all time.
Update: Carlos Correa walks leading off the bottom of the eighth. That ends the perfect game, but the no-hitter is still intact.
Update: Josh Reddick doubles down the rightfield line to break up the no-hitter. The Astros have men on second and third.
Update: A sacrifice fly ties the game at one.
Update: Colon leaves the game with two out in the eighth. A fantastic game for the veteran.
Update: The game goes to the ninth tied at one, so Colon will not get a decision.
Bartolo outpitching JV is remarkable enough on its own.
