Draft Time

You can watch the draft at MLB.com. The first pick is coming up soon.

Update: The Tigers select Casey Mize, a right-handed pitcher. He had a great career at Auburn with outstanding three-true outcome numbers. In addition, with a name like Casey Mize, he has to be a ballplayer.

Update: The Giants take catcher Joey Bart with the second pick. Bart hits for average, gets on base, and hits for power. Maybe the Giants want to save Buster Posey’s bat and move him to another position in a couple of years.

Update: The Phillies take third baseman Alec Bohm. Another excellent hitter through college, he really blossomed in his senior year.

Update: Bohm just had the worst interview ever. He seems like nice enough kid, and kind of shy, and they are asking him how fast he’s going to make the majors and which great NL East pitcher he wants to homer against. HE DOESN’T KNOW!

Update: The White Sox take Nick Madrigal, shortstop. He’s another BA/OBP/Slug hitter. I hope they play madrigals as his walk up music!

Update: That’s it for me. Time to watch actual MLB baseball. Congratulations to all the picks.

That wasn’t mentioned, so I assume no. Would be cool. Kid wants to play in the majors, though I think he’ll be hurt on steals. Maybe convert to pitching, or first.
