Afternoon Sevens

The Twins beat the White Sox 7-2 Thursday afternoon. Powerhouse Eddie Rosario hit his 14th home run (which is 2 * 7) and his 16th double, driving in three runs. Jose Berrios went the distance, walking noe and striking out 10, earning his seventh win. He has now struck out 84 and walked 14, both multiples of 7.

The Reds beat the Rockies 7-5, rallying in the late innings to tie the game, then winning the game in the 13th on a Jesse Winker two-run, walk-off home run. Winker came in as a pinch hitter and went 3 for 3.

The Dodgers beat the Pirates 8-7, the Pirates scoring four runs in the last two frames to close the gap to one. With their starting pitcher scratched before the game, the Dodgers started reliever Daniel Hudson, and used eight other relievers in the game. This is why teams need nine-man bullpens!

The Cubs beat the Phillies 4-3, a total of seven runs. The Phillies only scored three runs despite Cubs starter Tyler Chatwood walking 7 batters in 4 2/3 innings.

The outlier game took place in St. Louis where the Cardinals beat the Marlins 4-1. Miles Mikolas, however, pitched seven innings for his seventh win.
