Games of the Day

The Nationals try to get back to winning after a players meeting yesterday. Miami visits with Pablo Lopez facing Jeremy Hellickson. Lopez makes the second start of his major league career. He showed consistently outstanding control throughout the minors, with a career walk rate of 1.3 BB per 9 IP. His one walk in his first six innings was intentional. Hellickson walked just eight batters in 48 innings this season.

First place teams clash in Milwaukee as the Brewers host the Braves. Max Fried takes on Jhoulys Chacín. Fried burns batters this year, with 24 strikeouts in just 17 2/3 innings. He walked 10 batters, but they have not hurt as opponents are 0 for 14 with runners in scoring position. Chacin does a good job of limiting power with men on base. He allows a .398 slugging percentage with the bases empty, .317 with runners on. The power against him does not drive in runs.
