Larry Mahnken simulated the 2006 season using three different sets of projections. The Twins do surprisingly well. I guess good pitching can take you a long way.

Go Phils! In first place in all simulations!! What I find suprising is the systems all project a slight drop in runs scored, but improvement in runs allowed, despite losing Wagner to NY.
Maybe this is the “Madson” effect?
the CUBS finish second?
oh please
with exactly WHO pitching? and neifi leading off?
and i will believe atlanta finishing third when i see it.
and all these projection systems got oakland finishing first since 2002 and 4 strikes and you out.
The A’s go back from 7 back of the Angels to 18 ahead. Boy, Loaiza is even better than I thought.
I believe it was actually SG, not Larry, who did the simulations.
If you aren’t pleased with the projections (and I wasn’t as a white sox fan) just look at his link at the top for last year’s projections. You’ll realize why they play baseball with wooden bats and leather balls, not computer programs.
