Best Batter Today

The scores of the top five in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings continue to decline. Mike Trout loses a little each day as he remains on the disabled list, but still sits number one on the list. Matt Carpenter ended a slump with a 3 for 5 night, missing the cycle by a triple Carpenter now sits in second place with 34 doubles and 34 home runs on the season. The Cardinals beat the Dodgers 5-3. In the same game, Justin Turner collected a single and a double to move into fifth place on the list and extend his hitting streak to 14 games. Alex Bregman singled in the Astros 7-4 loss to Seattle, and he sits in fourth place, while an idle Paul Goldschmidt sits in fourth. The top seven are very tight as seven points separate that group.
